Who We Are
Sigil Consulting Group (SCG) is a collective of international experts in paramedicine, out-of-hospital healthcare, patient safety and human factors. Our aim is to work collaboratively with organisations that deliver healthcare in unique and challenging environments to improve patient safety, staff wellbeing and system performance. Our methodology is underpinned by human factors which ensures a systems approach to any project we support. While our primary focus is paramedicine, our members also have experience working with community healthcare organisations to improve system performance and patient safety.
Our Mission
We aim to support paramedic services, regulators, governing bodies, and individual paramedics in improving clinical care, system performance and safety no matter where they are located around the globe.
We leverage our expertise in paramedicine, out-of-hospital care, and human factors in patient safety to help organisations improve patient safety, staff wellbeing and system performance using evidenced based, research informed approaches and human factors principles.
Our Background
SCG was founded by like minded paramedics from across the globe who identified that no matter where we operate, system issues in out-of-hospital healthcare often share commonalities.
Our members have extensive backgrounds working in public and private paramedic systems, paramedic regulatory bodies, paramedic governing organisations and in remote and austere environments around the world.
We established a collective of experts and specialists to support paramedic services, community health care organisations and paramedics in improving safety systems.
Our team has worked with organisations in North America, Europe and the UK.
Ivan McCann
BA, MSc, AP/ACP, FP-C, CPPS
Ivan McCann is a paramedic and patient safety specialist with over a decade of clinical and safety experience across three continents.
He holds a Masters of Science in Human Factors in Patient Safety and is an IHI Certified Patient Safety Specialist (CPPS). He currently holds paramedic registrations across four different countries.
Ivan specialises in patient safety incident reviews, resilience engineering, just culture implementation, and paramedic wellbeing. He also has experience navigating patient safety in community based healthcare. He is the lead consultant with Sigil Consulting Group.
